Whitsunday Island
The largest of the Whitsunday group of islands. Whitehaven Beach, 9 kilometres long, is located on the southeast coast and is the longest expanse of unbroken beach in the area. There are National Parks to explore around Whitehaven Beach and some good snorkelling sites at its southern end.
Although there are no resorts or accommodation facilities on the uninhabited Whitsunday Island, there are several places which allow camping, with fresh water accessible.
